How it works

Your Tesla shows a 3D drawing of itself on the touchscreen. Since late 2025 the car lets you put your own image on that drawing, in a corner of the Toybox called the Paint Shop. WrapX makes those images. Nothing touches the real car: the wrap lives on the screen, and it comes off again with one tap.

What a wrap actually is

Tesla publishes a template for every model and trim: a flat image where each panel of the car has its own place, a bit like the cardboard net of a box before it is folded. Anything drawn on that template is wrapped around the 3D car in the right spot. Draw across the wrong part and a stripe meant for the door ends up on the roof.

WrapX is built on those templates. Every design in the library is drawn onto each layout separately, so it sits on the panels rather than being stretched across them, and the file that comes out is already in the exact shape, size and format the car expects.

What you do

• Pick your car once. Model and trim, because the trim decides the panel layout. From then on everything you see is drawn for that car.
• Choose a wrap. Browse the library on the Discover tab, or make your own in Studio from any image on your phone and watch it on the car as you work.
• Save it. One tap puts a ready file in your Photos. The app checks the size, the format and the filename before it saves, so the car never turns it away.
• Hand it to the car. Tesla's own app uploads it, and the car shows it within seconds. The installation guide has every tap, including the USB route.

What it costs

The app is free, and a handful of wraps in the library are free too, so you can take the whole journey to the car before paying anything. Studio gives you three free saves for the same reason.

A membership unlocks every wrap in the library and every new release, for your car. Monthly, yearly, or once for good. The exact price is shown by Apple in the app, in your own currency, and Apple handles the payment; see refunds and purchases for how that works.

What you need

• An iPhone on iOS 16.4 or later.
• A Tesla with the Paint Shop in its Toybox. Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck all have it on current software.
• The Tesla app, version 4.59.0 or newer, for the upload step.

What it is not

Not a vinyl wrap, not a paint job, and not anything a garage needs to be involved in. It is an image on a screen. It also is not a Tesla product: WrapX is independent, and Tesla, Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck are trademarks of Tesla, Inc.
